I have nothing whatsoever against snow. I love snow, why wouldn't I? From a safe distance it's pretty, and white and generally lovely and has the added bonus of throwing the country into absolute turmoil because no one really knew what to do with it - I mean, it's only water! Surely the most sensible approach, if it's causing so much trouble would be to get a great big hair dryer and turn it back into water. Or just leave our cars running all the time - then maybe Global warming can do its job.
I'm not saying that I want to get rid of the snow - not when it's doing such a lovely job of preventing me going to school - I'm just telling you what you should do if you want to get rid of the snow.
Yesterday, I heard someone at school come up with the theory of if it snowed all the time in Britain there would be no fat children. I was slightly confused but when pressed for further details it seemed that all the children would learn to ski to get around and walking in the snow is much harder and takes much more effort that walking normally and that cold burns more calories anyway... I'm sure a lot of experts could find some great big gaping holes in that, but it sounds good enough to me.
And also, think of the impact on society when it snows, when else, but in the snow can you find such a wide range of people all having fun outdoors? It makes people so happy!
Negative points, however, happen to include the treacherous aspect of it. It's so easy to slip and fall and crack your skull open or something like that, and it's wet and cold.
And it's so tiring to walk in. Just this morning I got up and started walking to school at approximately 0.5 mph (not helped in any way by the less than aerodynamic shape of my coat that made me bear more resemblance to a penguin fed on a diet of McDonalds than anything else) I was just about to reach my school when, coming the other way was a sixth former who told me school had been cancelled. So I had to walk all the way back. What I'd like to know, is what was wrong with telling me before?
Warm snow would be almost perfect.
And that's my short little journal about snow.
